Building Engineer

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Building Engineer to ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of our properties. This role involves a diverse range of responsibilities, from routine upkeep to addressing maintenance requests and potential emergency situations. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and possess a strong understanding of building systems and maintenance best practices. This position reports directly to the Property and Facilities Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular property visits to assess condition and identify maintenance needs.
  • Perform general site upkeep, including trash clean-up and ensuring proper placement of dumpsters.
  • Monitor properties for damage and address issues such as graffiti removal and cover-up.
  • Collect and report stray shopping carts and report any instances of vagrancy on property.
  • Potential Travel: Be available for occasional travel to various locations including California, Arizona, NYE County, and Mesquite to address work orders.
  • Perform plumbing repairs and installations, including faucets, water heaters, pipe repair, and other service-related tasks.
  • Execute landscape repairs and general maintenance.
  • Identify and repair water leaks effectively.
  • Conduct lighting repairs and installations, including proficiency in using a multimeter.
  • Perform HVAC maintenance tasks such as filter changes and coil cleanings.
  • Undertake roof cleanings and minor repairs.
  • Complete interior and exterior painting projects.
  • Assist with furniture moving and assembly as needed.
  • Replace and repair ceiling tiles.
  • Respond to on-call building needs on an emergency basis (infrequent).

Qualifications:

Required Certifications:

  • EPA Universal Certification
  • OSHA 8-Hour Certification

Preferred Certifications (a plus, but not required):

  • Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester Certification
  • Journeyman Electrician License
  • Journeyman Plumbing License

Additional Requirements:

  • Proven experience in building maintenance and repair.
  • Strong understanding of various building systems (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc.).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues efficiently.
  • Excellent problem-solving and time-management skills.  
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Successful completion of a background check is required.
